DIY Site
Many of our clients are computer savvy. They (or their staff) use a computer every day to create letters, brochures, and order forms. They have Internet accounts and as they surf the web, they often ask, "Why can't I (we) do our own web site?"
The answer is you can. But the web is full of sites that are failures. We don't typically recommend a client do their first site completely alone for several reasons:
- You'll have to learn a number of things that take a lot of time and which you'll only use once (domain registration, search engine placement, finding a WPP, etc.)
- Most folks commit the same "rookie mistakes" that destine a site to failure. Things like excessive animations, long downloads, "brochure-ware", traditional writing, etc.
- It takes too long to learn everything you need to know to do a complete web site.
Many web design consultants want to lock their clients into long term contracts. Want to run a special this month? Send your consultants a check. Want to expand on a training topic? Send your consultants a check.
We'd prefer to help you create your initial web site and then show you how to maintain it yourself. We find doing so:
- Makes the site more successful because it stays fresher.
- Gives you a better feel for what is possible on the web, expanding your business opportunities.
- Ultimately results in more business for us because happy customers give us referrals!
You can get started with our simple Intro Site or a Custom Site. Then if you'd like to do more yourself, we'll help you purchase the software and training materials you'll need (under $200) and show you how to get started.
